Products to achieve healthy, glowing, and moisturzized skin.

Skincare is my favorite! I’m usually lazy when it comes to my hair and I just brush it and go. Make up is fun and I enjoy dolling myself up, but when my skin is not cooperating with me, I DO NOT enjoy make up. I believe that skincare should be more important than make up (gasp). The reason why I say this is because it has a complete domino effect on each other. If you are not taking care of your skin, your make up application won't be where you would like for it to be. If you are taking care of your skin, then your make up application will look better and you will be happier with your results. As much as I love skincare, it get can get very pricey quickly. I’ve tried my best to find affordable options to incorporate into my skincare routine. If you are searching for the same, then keep on reading to see more!

Often times I have had people compliment me on my skin. A lot of people assume that I don't have or have never had any trouble with my skin. That is not true! Though I did not suffer with chronic acne, I did always have pimples and zits like every other teenager. When I was junior in high school, I began to notice dry/flaky skin patches on my nose and cheeks Long story short - afters four years of struggling with my skin/makeup application, I finally went to a dermatologist and was diagnosed with seborrheic dermatitis. When I was pregnant with my daughter, a year ago, I developed eczema on my face too! I was so frustrated with my skin I decided I was going to fix it no matter what I had to do!

I have tried my hardest to find skincare that is as affordable as can be, while still doing the job. The saying is true, you do get what you pay for. Sometimes you do have to spend a little more to get better quality. With that being said, below are all of the affordable products that I use in my current skincare routine.

You will see a common pattern with all of the products. They are all affordable, gentle on the skin, non-irritating, mostly all fragrance free, and moisturizing.

Face Cleanser

Neutrogena Naturals Purifying Facial Cleanser

I like to use this facial cleanser when I am washing my face, after waking up in the morning. I do not wash my face every morning, but if I do, I will choose this one. I will also use this in the evening to clean my face if I did not wear any make up during the day. $6.58 at Walmart.

Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser

This is another gentle facial cleanser option that I will use as well. If you have irritated or inflamed skin then this would work well for you. The only thing I had to get used to was that it does not lather up when rubbing in with water. $6.54 at Walmart.

Make Up Remover

Neutrogena Naturals Fresh Cleansing Makeup Remover

This is my favorite makeup remover/facial cleanser combo. It is the same cleanser as mentioned above, but it has makeup remover added in and it takes off all of my makeup. It lathers up to remove the makeup, even when I am not wearing a lot. This does not irritate my skin or dry it out either. $6.58 at Walmart.

Neutrogena Makeup Remover Wipes

I like to use these makeup wipes when I am traveling or when I am taking my makeup off during the day. It is easier for me to use these instead of hopping in the bath or making a mess in the sink. If you have sensitive skin like me, then make sure you grab the fragrance-free cloths. I have tried the regular wipes and they irritated my already red and inflamed skin. $4.97 at Walmart.

Garnier Miscellar Cleansing Water

I do not use this everyday, just when I am wearing a lot of make up for a special occasion. If I feel like there is still makeup residue on my face, I will apply the toner on a cotton pad and wipe on my face. It does a wonderful job of cleaning up the residue and will not irritate your skin. It is actually disgusting how much leftover makeup you will see left on your face.

$6.82 at Walmart

Moisturizers

Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion

This is hands down, my favorite moisturizer that I use everyday of my life. I used it one time in college when I received it as a Christmas present and when I ran out I found myself dissatisfied with any other product. I quickly realized that I needed it back in my life and bought it. If you are unhappy with your current moisturizer, then I would give this one a try. $28.00 at Ulta.

Neutrogena Hydro Boost

If you choose to try any product from my skincare routine, THEN THIS IS THE ONE. This is the ultimate game changer in my daily routine. This is a heavy duty cream that will help heal anyone's dry or irritated skin. I found this last year when I was struggling...STRUGGLING with dermatitis and eczema. The cream is very cooling and hydrating when applied. You can immediately feel it calming your skin. Since it is thick, a little bit goes a long way. If you suffer from acne, then I think this would help to calm down your skin or decrease the inflammation. This helped take away redness and the dry, flaky skin that I had at the time. The hyaluronic acid helps hold onto moisture and sinks into your skin. I have seen small samples at Target and Walmart if you would like to try before buying the entire jar. I apply this as soon as I get out of the shower to help lock in moisture. $16.17 at Walmart.

Clinique Moisture Surge

This is a very similar to hydro boost mentioned above, however, it is a lot more expensive. I received this as a gift and love it, but for saving money, Neutrogena is my go to. $39.00 at Ulta.

Cetaphil Night Moisturizer

Since I have redness proned skin on my cheeks and nose, I like to use this at night before I go to bed sometimes. This helps to calm down my skin at night. $9.65 at Walmart.

Oils/Serums

Biom8 Skin Conditioning Oil

If you suffer from seborrheic dermatitis like I do, then this will change your life. This is the reason why I have controlled it and my skin is no longer red, dry, and flaky. The only con I have is that you can only order it online. I place one squirt every evening and place on all problem areas to keep the symptoms under control. I have even used it on my scalp and the symptoms went away as well.

$22.99 at biom8.com.

Hyaluronic Acid

I no longer use this everyday, but I do use it a lot in the winter. Hyaluronic acid is used to help hydrate your skin and prevent aging. I'm not sure how accurate it is when it comes to preventing wrinkles, but I can tell you that it helps my skin stay hydrated. When my skin is having a hard time (usually in the winter), I apply this to my face before makeup application. I use a few drops and apply to my face. Once it is dry, I will apply my primer and then makeup like usual. If you have very dry skin, then this will help your make up stay looking dewy and moisturized all day.

$15.00 on Amazon Prime.

Other than the products mentioned, here are a few other tips I use to take care of my skin:

-make sure my foundation has SPF included in it

-wear sunscreen when out in the sun

-keep my face/neck covered with a large sun hat

-never sleep in my make up

-wash my face everyday

-exfoliate once every other week

-pat my face dry, never wipe

-don't pull on my skin, ever!

-I sleep on my back, not on my face, to prevent wrinkles (lol I'm extra, right?)

-always moisturize and clean my neck too

I hope you enjoyed seeing what I do to keep my skin looking healthy. I am not an expert in any way, I just found out what works for me. Let me know what products you enjoy using in the comments!
